Little tricks for big milestones

Care for children through their developmental milestones.

Families come to Pediatricks when a child needs support with rolling, sitting, transitions, crawling, standing, walking, posture, strength, coordination, motor planning, gait, balance, postural control, sensory processing, or everyday participation.

The therapy playbook

Smart little tricks for big developmental wins

Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy for gross motor development, gait and balance therapy, postural control training, strength, coordination, mobility, motor control, and developmental milestone progression.

Occupational Therapy

Whole-child OT focused on fine motor skills, sensory processing, play, self-care routines, regulation, visual motor skills, daily participation, and independence.

DMI Intensives

Focused DMI therapy and intensive physical therapy blocks for children working on postural control, balance, automatic movement responses, transitions, standing, walking, and neurodevelopmental goals.

Hybrid Intensives

Intensive blocks that combine pediatric PT, OT support, developmental motor intervention, motor planning therapy, repetition, caregiver education, sensory support, and home carryover planning.

DMI practitioners

The DMI playbook for developmental milestones

Dynamic Movement Intervention, often called DMI, is used by physical and occupational therapists to support children with motor delays by challenging postural control, alignment, balance, automatic movement responses, motor planning, and functional movement.

What is DMI?

DMI is a hands-on pediatric neuromotor therapy approach that uses specific, dynamic exercises to help a child create active motor responses.

What does DMI work on?

  • Postural control and alignment
  • Balance and protective responses
  • Strength against gravity
  • Motor planning, gait, and functional transitions
  • Rolling, sitting, standing, and walking

Who may benefit?

DMI may support children with motor delays, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, hypotonia, global developmental delay, prematurity-related delays, or other conditions affecting posture, strength, balance, and movement.

Supports weight shifting, rotation, and movement between tummy, back, and side-lying.

Cartoon child practicing sitting balance during pediatric therapy. Sitting

Supports head control, trunk alignment, balance reactions, and upright play.

Cartoon child practicing standing during pediatric therapy. Standing

Supports weight bearing, strength, balance, and preparation for standing skills.

Supports stepping responses, alignment, endurance, and confidence with mobility.

Format

Twice daily sessions

DMI and hybrid intensives are offered in 1, 2, or 3 week blocks, often twice daily for 45-60 minutes.

Private-pay care

Why Pediatricks is a cash-based practice

Pediatricks is a cash-based pediatric therapy practice. We know that can be a new idea for some families, so we want to say it plainly and kindly: this model helps us protect the quality, frequency, and individualized nature of pediatric PT, OT, DMI intensives, and hybrid intensive care.

Insurance can limit the number of visits, require lengthy authorizations, narrow what goals are considered covered, or interrupt the timing of care. Many children benefit most when the therapy plan can be shaped around their readiness, tolerance, developmental milestones, family goals, and the therapist's clinical reasoning.

Being cash based allows families and therapists to make decisions together: how often to schedule, whether a DMI intensive or hybrid intensive makes sense, what skills to prioritize, and how to support carryover at home. We are happy to explain the options clearly before a family commits to care.

Funding resources

Programs families can explore for therapy costs

Pediatricks is a private-pay practice, but some South Florida families may be able to use state programs, scholarships, waivers, grants, HSA funds, or FSA funds to help offset pediatric therapy, DMI therapy, pediatric intensive therapy, and neurodevelopmental care.

Each program has its own rules, approved expenses, documentation requirements, and timelines. We cannot guarantee approval or reimbursement, but we are happy to provide invoices or care documentation when a family is applying for an eligible program.
